Xmas in July..well ok then..September!
Posted on: 13/09/2018Winter finished in Australia a couple of weeks ago.Apparently it`s still warm in most places, although Sydney can go down to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It reminded me of an Australian I used to work with, at a swimming pool. He told me one day that they had Xmas in July parties as that was the coldest part of their year. As a joke we organised a Xmas in July party at the leisure complex...which unsurprisingly (or maybe surprisingly) went down really well. Can`t have enough Xmas right?
I am in the anti- shops promoting Xmas too early side of things though as I feel they should show imagination in what they sell all year round..unless perhaps they are in the Xmas tree business! There are some parts of Northern Australia that have snow for about 3 months of the year however which would be another factor for me in deciding whether it was ok to talk about Xmas as a time of year.
So..apart from Xmas trees and maybe Skiing holiday businesses I tried to think of other places where I would be happy, or at least accept, seeing the word Xmas as early as mid September. I came to realise that a lot of restaurants and places with rooms to hire are right on it with regards to taking advance bookings for the Xmas period. Prices hiked up of course which I feel is not right, but once the rooms are booked then the catering ,entertainment and maybe overnight accommodation companies comes into play.
It as at this stage of proceedings that I need to give out an `hypocrisy warning`. Black Cat Treasure Hunts organise really fun, office Xmas party treasure hunts. The hunts are great value and get everyone in the right mood before your meal. It is only September 13th, but I need you to start considering getting in touch with us on
info@blackcattreasurehunts.co.uk to discuss how I am going to best personalise it for you. So..book your venue...arrange a snowblower (just in case it doesn`t snow again this year)..make sure the tree is available..and then..book Black Cat Treasure Hunts for your pre meal entertainment. Passing round the menus can wait just a little while longer.
If this sounds all wrong to you then please sponsor Black Cat for a trip over to Australia in December and I will happily write a treasure hunt for you ther instead! Happy Xmas to one and all!
