Over 100 for a team building activity? Black Cat Treasure Hunts explains why you should not despair!

"Please could you book a team building activity or post conference activity for over one hundred people."
If that is the message you have just received and, although you are definitely the office superhero, maybe you have just died a little inside. Fear not, Black Cat Treasure Hunts may just have the answer to help you retain your sanity and your problem solver status.
In the middle of January, I had an email that concluded, "I was wondering if you are able to offer anything for that many people!"  (For an event near the start of |February)
Now, on the face of it that sounds a fairly calm type of enquiry, but I am a master of reading between the lines! `Wondering` translates to: I am at my wits end...please help. Follow that up with an exclamation mark and it was clear to me that the enquirer was beyond the desperate zone.
This particular event was potentially for up to 200 people as it happens, and I felt that this person had obviously listed all their options and crossed off all but one.
Black Cat Treasure Hunts is a specialist in writing bespoke, personalised team building treasure hunts in Sussex, but in Brighton most often. This is how I think `the list` looked (with their comments):
*Dinner/Dance/Party: Doing the night before. Need something different and away from the hotel.
*Escape Room: Nice idea, but nowhere near enough slots to accommodate this number in the available time.
*i360 tower (Brighton): Good value for high numbers, but only available after it has closed to the rest of the public for the day and only 45 mins long.
*Cocktail making: This might appeal, but never going take more than about 30 people at one go.
*Speedboats around the marina and Pier: I might just book one of these for myself and get as far away as possible before anyone realises what a difficult task I have been set.
*Treasure Hunt: Lots of people like treasure hunts...gets you out and about discovering the city...fun to do in teams...good value for money. Must be a catch? Oh yes...there's lots of us!

Black Cat Treasure Hunts was established on the visitBrighton website as the best option and contacted as above. Now some people might think, thanks but no thanks...I`m on my own ...this is going to be too many people.
Here is the feedback afterwards that disproved that theory:

"I also just wanted to thank you again. We have had lots of compliments from attendees who have said that the treasure hunt was their favourite part of the whole conference! Everything was really professional, and it was such a fun way for everyone to get out and about into the city."

So how was it organised to accommodate the high number?
1. I `zoned` the city into four inter-connecting zones (with questions and challenges in each) that you could do in any order.
2. The fun challenges could either be done in different places or at any time on route or even a bit off route too.
3. Guidelines were given to 5/6 teams at a time before moving on, after a short gap to the next group.
4. Teams had the option to go right, left or almost straight ahead when setting off to help split them up. I met them all in front of Brighton Pier where there is a lot of space.
5. The teams used WhatsApp to send me photos and video clips which I was able to mark/judge remotely when they were travelling home. This was an international company with people from Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Ireland attending.

So, there you have it. No need to check into therapy and I will attend on the day to take the pressure off you then too. Now, I can hear one or two of you say Brighton is all very well, but we need to stay in London and avoid travel and accommodation costs. I hear you! I may add on a few pounds to cover a bit of travel to the capital, but I do love a day out and have created team building treasure hunts in Westminster, Shoreditch and Camden (not an exclusive list). Just saying...To start a booking and to end your early or mid-life crisis, contact me (Tim) on info@blackcattreasurehunts.co.uk or call (01323) 655346.
