Brighton Team Building Treasure Hunts. The Challenges Uncovered.
Posted on: 25/11/2022By Tim Carter (Owner of Black Cat Treasure Hunts)A Brighton
team building treasure hunt is designed to entertain, inform and, of course, enable team building by having fun. Completing original mini challenges by taking photos and short video clips is one of the ways that Black Cat Treasure Hunts creates this opportunity. Set out below are five classic examples of how this has been put into practice.
1.
You never know who or what you might meet or see on a Black Cat Treasure Hunt. A Brighton
team building treasure hunt definitely lends itself to seeing and discovering odd things on route. Where else do you get oversized lobsters, a spiky shelled snail on a wall and a colourful buffalo lying next to a restaurant? I suggest nowhere else and this simple, but effective challenge is a great way to have your teams working together.
2.
You can be stars in your own film. During the filming of Brighton Rock, because Brighton Pier looked too modern, the producers had to nip over to Eastbourne and arrange for filming to take place on their pier instead! Now this neatly leads to challenging teams to choose their own film to re-create. Of course, if Black Cat himself is doing the marking, then he may want to be able to recognise the film you are capturing on video. In addition, the pressure is on to ensure that Brighton itself features in the background to make up for the embarrassment caused during Brighton Rock!
3. Did you Know? Did you know that Charles II (see photo) fled England in a boat from just near Brighton. He stayed in France in exile for 9 years before returning as King. The boat he used was arranged by a local man who was eventually rewarded with money that he used to buy the freehold of The Old Ship Hotel (in Brighton). The hotel still stands in the city to this day. Ever year now a yacht race is held from opposite the hotel to Fecamp in France, the original destination of the king.
This story is too good to ignore for a team building challenge. Expect to be running from the hotel down to the seafront where there are a number of old (fishing) boats on dry land. Here you can shout out "Nous Nous echappons" (thats French for `we are escaping`) in French accents. I can promise you that your team will be stronger than ever after this experience.
4.
Seasonal Challenge. Some companies arrange an office awayday and party for Christmas, but also consider near Easter and Summer too. It seems a shame not to incorporate an appropriate challenge if the opportunity arises. Take a team photo of everyone wearing Christmas jumpers or a video clip singing a beautifully harmonised carol. Alternatively, you could be issued with hard boiled eggs for an egg rolling competition on an April
team building treasure hunt. Summertime is obviously a popular time for a treasure hunt too and that allows for a Hawaiian style challenge! Limbo, lei wearing, and hula dancing could well provide a chance to score points for your team.
5.
World Record. One of the best things about
team building treasure hunts is finding out about the hidden talents of your colleagues and teammates. Utilising one or more of these skills and creating an unusual and never heard of before World record always makes for a great video clip. Discussing and comparing the merits of different teams` world records at the end should not be under-estimated as a team building benefit.
