From Black Friday to Thank God It`s Thursday.Christmas shopping re-named.

Black Friday has been `a thing` since 1952 in America apparently. Signifying the official start of the American Christmas shopping season, it always falls the first Friday after their Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday has been adopted across the world with offers here to encourage sales.
Cyber Monday follows hard on its` heels, as the on-line equivalent, with great on-line offers available on the Monday following Black Friday.
I am writing this blog on this year`s Cyber Monday. To be honest I can`t  tell the difference between the two. With on-line shopping rivalling High St shopping, especially in a pandemic, Black Friday appears to be just another day to maximise sales. Having said all that there does seem to be a longer period of a sales push...for example Black Weeks, with less emphasis on one day. Black Cat Treasure Hunts feels that the time has come to `name` all the other days to help out with the whole process.
`Turbo`Tuesday seems an obvious one to me. If you have spent all day Monday on your laptop or mobile checking out deals as part of Cyber Monday, you need to show a bit more energy and get out and about on this day! Have a plan...get in...buy the items on your list...get out.
`Win-Win`Wednesday is an attempt to bring a bit of compromise back into the shopping process. The shops could select some items for discounts...say Christmas puddings for example, but nudge a few pence on related items such as brandy butter, cream and custard. If you are committed to a healthier Christmas and saving money then you just buy the Christmas pudding! No-one really does that do they so at least the shops will win too when you buy the `add-on`. Everyone is happy.
After the manic first half to the week and the promise of the ubiquitous (that`s a word that means it`s everywhere!) Black Friday to follow, then I think it`s only right we have a `Thank God it`s Thursday`. Previously a phrase reserved for Friday and the coming of the weekend, this must now be attached to Thursdays for the month of December. Basically, take a day off from shopping before the Friday and do something else! Maybe some work or writing a few Christmas cards...if people still do that any more?
Saturday is now going to become `Sit Down` Saturday. Black Friday needs to be re-launched as deals on the High St and not on-line. Therefore by the Saturday you will feel quite tired from wandering around the shops and in need of a sit down and a nice cup of tea. Good chance as well to browse and get up to date with your on-line options maybe?!
Sunday as a day of rest has not really existed since we copied the European model of putting a lot of our sporting events on a Sunday, as opposed to all on Saturday. It can`t therefore be used as an excuse not to do any Christmas shopping. `Slowly, but Surely`Sunday allows you a leisurely stroll around some Christmas markets maybe as an alternative to the midweek style of shops. Your Christmas shopping will be complete and full of variety!
Talking of variety, Black Cat Treasure Hunts can offer on-line downloadable treasure hunts. A nice way to burn off a few Christmas calories. Alternatively, why not try one of our personalised treasure hunts that you can not only give as an original gift, but something that can be used at anytime in 2021. Contact us on any day of the week(!) to discuss your booking on info@blackcattreasurehunts.co.uk
